Our Cleaning Approach

All standard cleans include a thorough, non-toxic wash designed for everyday messes and gentle care.

Every standard clean includes light stain attention and gentle deodorizing. For seats that need a little extra care, add-on services are available and always discussed beforehand.

Before cleaning, each seat is carefully inspected. If I feel that additional treatments would be helpful for the best possible result, I’ll always reach out before proceeding. If I’m unable to connect with you within a reasonable timeframe, I may go ahead with basic recommended treatments so your seat can be properly cleaned and ready for safe use.

In cases of heavy soiling or biohazard, a $25 heavy soiling fee is automatically applied. This simply reflects the extra time and care needed for these situations.

Examples of biohazards may include:
vomit, urine, feces, mould or mildew, bodily fluids, or heavily soiled food spills (such as sour milk)

How Our Turnaround Works

Car seats are typically picked up in the evening and cared for overnight. Most seats are ready to be returned the following morning, though some may need a little extra drying time and are returned later in the afternoon.

Drying is an important part of the process and is never rushed. I always want to be sure your child’s seat is completely dry, clean, and ready to be safely used. For this reason, exact return times can vary slightly from seat to seat.
If you need a little more flexibility or would rather not stress about morning timing, weekend pickups are available. If you choose a weekend pickup, your car seat will be collected either Friday evening or Saturday evening. Seats are then carefully cleaned and returned the following morning/afternoon

This option is perfect for families who want a little extra flexibility and a relaxed timeline, without needing to worry about early mornings, work, or daycare schedules.

Why Have Your Car Seat Professionally Cleaned?

Car seats go through a lot — snacks, spills, car naps, busy days, and everyday life with little ones. Over time, crumbs, milk, and moisture can build up in places that are hard to see or reach.

For many parents, cleaning a car seat can feel overwhelming. Between full schedules and family life, finding the time is hard — and with so much information out there, it’s also common to worry about cleaning it the wrong way. Because of that, seats often get put off longer than anyone intends.

Professional cleaning helps gently remove:
    •    Hidden crumbs and food residue
    •    Lingering odours from spills or accidents
    •    Bacteria and mould that can develop over time

Most importantly, professional car seat cleaning is done with safety in mind. Car seats are designed to protect your child, and using the wrong cleaning methods can affect how they perform.

At Crumbs on board, each seat is cleaned following manufacturer guidelines, using non-toxic products and gentle techniques — so your child’s seat stays both clean and safe.

What products do you use?

All cleaning products used are non-toxic, baby-safe, and free from harsh chemicals and fragrances. Everything is chosen with sensitive little bodies in mind and used gently to protect both the fabric and the safety of the seat.

Is my car seat safe to use after cleaning?

Yes. Safety is always the top priority. Car seats are cleaned following manufacturer guidelines and are never soaked, steam cleaned, pressure washed, or heat dried. Each seat is only returned once it is completely dry and carefully reassembled so it’s ready to be safely used.

What types of car seats do you clean?

Infant seats, toddler/convertible/high back booster seats, and backless booster seats are all cleaned. If you’re unsure what type of seat you have, you’re always welcome to ask before booking.

How often should a car seat be cleaned?

This can vary by family, but many parents find a professional clean helpful every 2-3 months, or after spills, accidents, illness, or seasonal changes. Families with younger children or frequent snacks often benefit from more regular cleaning.
